Electric Grills

Welcome to our website. Here we will discuss electric grills.

As we know, grilling is a past time enjoyed by Americans across this great country. Grills we are familiar with are the outdoor grills that are either charcoal or gas fired. However most times outdoor grilling becomes unacceptable when the weather becomes cold and rainy. Especially if you live in the northern states where ice and snow are the norm.

There is a grilling alternative during cold winter months. The alternative is indoor electric grills. There are basically two kinds of electric grills including an open-faced grill and a flat, closed-faced grill.

The open-faced grill is great for cooking larger steaks, chicken and sausage. The food is cooked from the bottom and you must turn the food to allow cooking both sides. This grill leaves grill marks like the outdoor grills. This grill is great for larger families or when entertaining guests.

The second style is called the closed grill. When you place food on the closed grill, this allows cooking on both sides of the food simultaneously. The limitation of the closed electric grill restricts the size of steaks, chicken or other cuts of meat, including vegetables, that can be cooked on the closed type of electric grill.

The closed grill or sandwich style of grilling, cooking time is regulated and there is no smoke generated during cooking. It takes less time to cook since both sides are cooked at the same time. However with regulated cooking time, it takes trial and error to determining the desired doneness since you must regulate the cooking time. Advantages of the closed grill is cooking small cuts of meat, hamburgers and sandwiches.

One great benefit with both types of grills is the fat is drained off because the grills are elevated allowing for the grease to drain into fat pans or cups. This is excellent health wise preventing cooking in grease and is safer that using gas grills.

Electric grills come with a timer that is usually twofold. The first timer indicates when the grill is hot enough to place the food for cooking. The second timer allows for the length of cooking time. It will take several trial and error methods to determine the amount of cooking time depending on what food is being grilled.

You must be extremely caution, especially around small children, since these grills heat to a very high temperature. The grill should be unplugged when the food is done.

Most grills non-stick surface make them easy to clean though the slotted grates sometimes make them hard to get at.
